Agency workers
The Agency Workers Regulations 2010 give agency workers the right to the same basic working and employment conditions as if they had been "permanently employed by the end-user in the same position". From the first day of their assignment they must be given the same access to certain collective facilities provided by the hirer to comparable workers and employees, e.g. a staff canteen or creche, and any information on relevant job vacancies. After twelve weeks in the same job they will be entitled to "equal treatment" in relation to: - pay
- working time
- rest periods and breaks
- annual leave; and
- night work
However, the right to equal treatment does not extend to some wider benefits enjoyed by permanent staff, for example enhanced sick pay, maternity pay and occupational pensions.
